The Fun Bus

I promised there would be pictures from mine and Wes' adventurous weekend and I am delivering. On Friday, we caught the "fun bus" and headed to Wendover. It is about an hour and a half outside of Salt Lake. If you don't know what Wendover is, it's like a miniature version of Reno or Vegas.

We caught the bus at 3:10 in the afternoon. It was so funny because everyone on the bus was a regular so they all knew each other. We were "fun bus" virgins. On the bus ride there we played BINGO for prizes. Our luck wasn't off to a great start because we didn't win.
The bus dropped us off at Montego Bay where they gave us money to gamble and free dinner to their seafood buffet.

Wes and I did a little gambling. The roulette table didn't wasn't too good to Wes, but I killed it at the penny machines. The lady next to me kept giving me dirty looks because as she kept putting money in I kept winning.

The bus came and got us at midnight and we were able to sleep on the bus. We had such a fun date night, but we always have fun together no matter what we are doing!

Random...

Out to dinner with our friend Kam at Fratelli's. Best company and Italian food EVER!

Wes and I decided to take a road trip and go tour the Air Force Museum. It was so much fun to see and read about the history of our Air Force and see all of the amazing aircraft. I promise I couldn't wait to go home and watch Top Gun.

I am obsessed with polka dots so you can imagine my excitement when I saw this plane!

New hat day!!! Wes and I decided we needed new hats. He got his military cadet hat from Nordstroms ($20) and I got my floppy hippie hat from H&M ($20).

Thanksgiving

I hope everyone ate lots of yummy food and had a Happy Thanksgiving. I know I did. My family went up to a fabulous fine dining restaurant in the mountains called The Log Haven. I couldn't wait to come home and get in my fat kid pants. I am going to have to put in some dedicated time at the gym this weekend.

I Am Thankful For....

I love the feel of the holidays for so many reasons. Everyone seems to be more cheerful, I have an excuse to go shopping and buy gifts for my loved ones, and I get to spend quality time with family and friends.
Thanksgiving is such a great time of year to reflect on your blessings and what you are thankful for.
I am thankful for:

Family Pics

We did family pictures on Sunday. Here is a little sneak peek of what I wore. More pics will be coming soon!!!

Happy Halloween!

Team Barkell's Life through Instagram

I cherish every moment and weekend I get to spend with my darling family! It was my hubby's birthday on the 16th. He turned 28 ~ he just gets more handsome with age and I fall in love with him more and more everyday! I smile every time I think about him.

Jersey got a new collar and was super excited to show it off on the blog. Red and black are definitely his colors. He won't have any problems meeting any ladies now.

Mine and Wes' motto every since we met is we always need to try new things! So, a couple of weeks ago we decided to give Krav Maga a try. If you are like me you are probably asking yourself what in the hell is that? Krav Maga is a self-defense technique. I felt like a total gomer the whole time, but it was a great work out and it made me think a lot different on how I would react in situations.

Wes got an espresso machine for his birthday. He has become quite the barista since he got it. I was more excited about the little espresso cups we got. They are so cute and little.
I was so wired on Sunday after a few espressos I was working out like a crazy girl at the gym. So, if you ever need a boost locate the nearest Starbucks and order a shot.

Half Marathon

So like the crazy person that I am I decided it would be a good idea to sign up for a half marathon. Just a little background about me, I love running! Running helps me clear my head, it relaxes me, and I feel so good when I am done, but I haven't ran a half marathon for a couple of years now. I have been telling Wes all year I wanted to do one, so I finally just did it!

It's amazing how mental working out and running is. I didn't train for this half marathon one bit. By no means was it easy, but it was the best feeling to run across that finish line. I am here to tell you you can do anything you put your mind to. If I can finish a half marathon without training you can do it too.  I finished my half in 2 hours and 4 minutes and came in 11th place.

A Stroll in Salt Lake

Can I tell you how much I am enjoying the fall weather. Wes and I walked around Salt Lake all afternoon. We started at the Farmer's Market and just kept walking in and out of random places we have never been before. Along the way I practiced my picture taking and we ended up at our new favorite pizza place Settebello.

Vacation

It's been a busy year for The Barkells. Wes started a new job, graduated with his Bachelors, passed the Series 7 and Series 63 and work has been super busy for me. Needless to say we decided a vacation was in order. We went to Las Vegas and stayed at our new favorite hotel the HRH (Hard Rock Hotel). We seriously had the most relaxing time. It consisted of eating, laying by the pool, oh yeah and eating.

Our first day in Vegas we decided to go to the Rehab pool to check out all of the Jersey Shore look a likes. Oh boy, it was the best people watching. I am pretty sure I saw the "Situation" and "Snooki". I wish I had pictures so you could share my excitement.

We went to the Hofbrauhaus one night for dinner to celebrate Oktoberfest. We had such a great time. It was a party just waiting to happen. It is this big beer hall with community tables we sat next to a couple from the Netherlands. There was live music, yummy german food, and lots of spanking going on.

This was punishment for anyone who ordered a Jager shot. (no that's not Wes)

Wes and I tried our luck on Wheel of Fortune. We each won about $20 and decided to put some of it on Black (I am a very conservative gambler ;)) We ended up $120 a head, woohoo!

Haha... this picture still makes me laugh. This was an Alan look a like from the Hangover.

Before we headed home I got to see my favorite girl. We met Jenni for lunch at FireFly and caught up. It's always so fun to see her!
