Craft Day

So... Mal and I decided we are going to start having a craft day at least once a month. Well we had our first one on Monday. What an adventure! First of all, I have no clue how to sew and Mal just got her first sewing machine for Christmas. So mind you we are total sewing amateurs.

This was our project for the day:

Looks pretty easy huh? Well it wasn't! So we went to Target and got some supplies n' things. Sewing the ruffles was no big deal. It was the sewing the ruffles on the shirt that didn't go so well. Attempt #1: I sewed the front and back of the shirt together! Attempt #2: Ended up sewing pieces of the front of the shirt together, at this point I wasn't unable to undo the stitching so I gave up on that shirt.

So for practice I went and got an old shirt and gave it another shot. Yeah don't worry I did sew the front and back together again, but I was able to save the shirt this time. Here is how it turned out... It was so funny when Wes got home I showed him my work of art, he said, "Looks good honey, is it supposed to be straight?" OOPS!

Of course, Mallorie's turned out fabulous... I will keep you posted on our next craft day and there will definitely be more pictures because I am sure there will be plenty more blonde moments!

Home Improvement

Wes and I have started a new home improvement on the house, we are finishing our garage. It has been such a fun little project to do together. The garage was already sheet rocked, but it only had the first coat of mud so Papa Gould taught us how to mud. Currently, we are in the process of sanding the mud to get everything all smoothed out and then we will be able to paint this weekend hopefully! Woohoo!

You should have seen us at Home Depot the other day buying paint. We looked like Dumb and Dumber.  We had no idea how many options there were and I am not just talking about what color to pick... we had to pick the texture: flat, eggshell, satin, etc. Then whether or not we wanted the primer and paint combined or if we wanted to buy it separate. If we wanted exterior or interior paint... What we thought was going to be a five minute trip turned into an hour. Haha... it's always an adventure... :)

Once we are all done I will post some pictures so you can see how it turned out.

Happy Valentines Day

Valentines is a special day for Wes and I because that's when our relationship really kicked off last year. This year, Wes planned a fabulous weekend for us. He booked us a room at the Grand America Hotel and made reservations for dinner and brunch.

On Saturday, we went and checked into our room, the Executive King Suite. We were on the 21st floor. It was beautiful. Once we got all settled in the room, we caught trax and took it to Gateway. We walked around Gateway and just enjoyed the nice day and sunshine.

Our dinner reservations weren't until 8, so to kill time we hit up a couple of the lounge's in the hotel and just relaxed. The first lounge really wasn't our style, it was called the Gibson Lounge, but it was just fun to take it all in. At 6 the Lobby Lounge had a Jazz band playing so we headed over there and just sat and laughed and enjoyed the band.

At 8, we headed to the Land and Sea event. Oh boy, we had no clue what we were in for... it's bad when our waiter told us to just take our time. Now, I know what he was talking about.

First, dinner started off with a buffet full of appetizers. They had anything from wontons to shrimp to salad and much more. Then our meal and sides came. Wes got the filet and lobster thermador and I ordered the ribeye. My ribeye almost filled up my whole plate I couldn't believe it. Not only did we get a side, but we got 3. They were all fabulous.

Then what is a meal without dessert? So not only did they have a buffet of appetizers, but they had a buffet of desserts too. They all looked so yummy of course we had to try all of them and then get this they brought us out a pastry to our table as another dessert. It was like a strawberry filled churro. Oh does this not sound like the porky pig special? Well it was... Wes and I were so full we couldn't even move. I have never been in so much pain in all of my life. I know I am sure you are feeling sorry for us, huh?

The next morning we woke up and were supposed to go to brunch at 10, but we were still so full from dinner the night before there was no way we would have got our monies worth, so we rescheduled for this Sunday. I will let you know how that poly of a meal is :)

Thank you for a fabulous weekend sweetheart! I love you the MOST!! Happy Valentine's Day!!!
